JAPAN
Most Japanese hotels have extremely limited space - particularly western style business hotels. If you are setting up a match with a local, they'll more than likely suggest a "love hotel" with tatami mats. (The local standard for pro style fun is the the "ring" in Shibuya, but you'll need a local contact to make arrangements.) However, for many visitors in Japan on business or for sightseeing, some low-cost western hotels to consider might include:

Nagoya: Nagoya Marriott Associa Hotel. There was enough room on the floor for either the mattress or a makeshift grappling space with sheets.

Tokyo: Citadines Shinjuku Tokyo. This chain of business hotels is popular with foreign visitors because they typically have a very small sofa and coffee table area next to the beds if you get creative with a pro-style match. Probably not helpful for a submission battle. (Also near gay district 2-chome). Unfortunately, any western hotel in Tokyo with enough space to battle is gonna cost you.

Osaka: The Westin Osaka is somewhat off the beaten path, but it won't break the bank. Their rooms typically have enough floor space for a makeshift match.

There are private BDSM dungeon type places, some of which have matspace. Example

I try to look at the extended stay brands or hotel suites that have a living room area or at the very least a room with one bed and a pullout couch. That way there is enough space to drop down some mats, as long as it is within a 8-10 drive and I can bring them

Usually more of the extended stay hotels (Residence Inn, TownePlace Suites, Hyatt House, Homewood Suites, SpringHill Suites) are good with enough space to roll around and such.

I find that anytime I can get into a Hyatt Place where I’m staying, that’s my hotel of choice for wrestling. There’s a spacious amount of carpet that’s perfect for matches and you don’t feel cramped into a tiny space!

Get a room on the ground floor and ask for an easy-access room.

It's not the Hilton but I like most Motel 6s. The floors are wooden and bed frames are light so you can move then around and make space for the mattress. Even though I detest rlwrestling on mattresses, sometimes they will have to do! Plus don't have to worry about making too much noise . The only thing is the smell of weed throughout the whole hotel.

Many go to Las Vegas for matches and various meetups. A clean, smoke free room that is huge and has all the things you need: tv, phone, iron and ironing board, coffee machine and coffee/tea, microwave, frig, and safety box/mini safe.

Three restaurants with great food, two bars, two swimming pools (one for laps), two jacuzzis, a health center with all the equipment and machines you need for a great workout, a shop that provides all sorts of toiletries, snacks, booze.

Where is this treasure? 255 East Flamingo: the Tuscany Suites and Casino. Less expensive and great service; very helpful staff. No, I don't own it and I am getting nothing for sharing this info; I stay there every time I go to LV. Even the air quality is better being about a half mile or so off the Strip.

Check it out as your choose.

This is a great idea! I only wish I had kept a log of all the hotels and motels I've wrestled in, so I could contribute to this list. There's nothing more frustrating than getting into a room and realizing that there's nowhere to put a mattress on the floor without completely disassembling a bed and frame.

Hello fighters

For those of us who travel and have choices on which hotel to book a room, have you ever wondered which hotels / chains tend to have the best rooms conducive to your style of fighting / wrestling? It's not a rating system that's ever found on TripAdvisor but feel free to add your recommendations for each city you've had the pleasure of matching up in. Private rings or mats are different and can be listed elsewhere.

Here's my list so far:

Las Vegas, NV (USA) - Tuscany Heights. Very large rooms and open floor space to fit two mattresses (double Queen room). Reasonable pricing, off the Strip. (Thanks, wrestleJ)

Denver, CO (USA) - Residence Inn Downtown. Residence Inns in general have more floor space, but this one accommodated a little more lift/carries.

Sacramento, CA (USA) - Courtyard Marriott Midtown. Several of the 1st floor rooms have ridiculously big floor space that could fit 3 or 4 mattresses or a 10' x 10' mat easily.

Why not start a wrestling spaces guide?
and get all those adresses on a site?
