A little positivity for you all...
I just wanted to preface this by saying that I'm not looking for sympathy or messages of support, nor am I calling out anyone in particular... I'm simply using this as an outlet and hopefully to make a few of you feel seen.
Over the past few years, I've been feeling like I don't really fit into this site anymore. A lot of it stems from body image issues; I don't have the six pack, nor a lean body. I'm not comfortable in front of a camera (as majority of people want to film/photo their matches now), nor can I travel hours and hours. Most of the times being rejected or ignored doesn't affect me at all, but sometimes it's wearing, and I'm aware that to others it may not be so easy to brush off.
Now, I'm not saying that everyone has to reply to everyone, because I'm certainly not entitled to anyone's time just because they're on this site, and vice versa. Whenever I do feel like I'm against the ropes (pun intended) I have to remind myself: Your worth doesn't stem from how you look in the mirror, or how many people like you - it stems from how much you like you, and how much you continue to work on yourself, because you're awesome.
If anyone else can relate to the above, I hope you take some time away with yourself, and truly look in the mirror to see all the positives you have to offer. This site is just for a bit of fun, for building a community and hopefully getting to meet people with similar interests. If someone is not interested in you, or is acting like an absolute d-hole, make sure you get your shoulder off the mat before the 3rd count and carry on at it!
Take care of yourself, lads and I hope you all have a great time out there!
J.

Cheers, Npaul! I'm seriously all good, was just hoping if someone who wasn't 100% saw this it'd perk their day up a bit. :)

03/08/2024 15:52Most relatable post I’ve read on this site since 2021. You seem like a really great guy who’s very sound of themself and their journey.
If it weren’t for this community, I would have not met my husband. But everything has its season.
True. A lot of people (maybe a stretch) are filming & taping matches. But in this economy, I understand. We gotta do what we gotta do.
From my time producing WRSLMEDIA’S Rec Pro Wrestling, I can say from my perspective, it’s not as fun as it looks.
When I tapped out (pun intended), it was to focus on my myself and expand beyond the mat to create real connections beyond the keyboard.
The best matches, meetups, and connections, you make are not likely to be taped.
A lad like you isn’t missing out on anything major (at all).
Life is unpredictable and I’m excited for you on your journey.

03/08/2024 17:23You're right to say no one is entitled to a reply, sometimes life gets in the way. However, that doesn't excuse being rude or discurteous. It doesn't take long to say "Sorry not interested".
Thanks for your post & take care. Lancs.👍

04/08/2024 2:16Hey man....
I totally hear you and have experienced some of the same feelings. Not every person is a right fit for you, but as someone else mentioned there is no need to be rude, to block or to ignore when all it takes is a simple "thank you" or "not interested."
But as we all know we cannot change peoples behaviors.
I think of it as "their loss."
You know who you are and I'm sure many people value your friendship so focus on the positive rather than the negative and move on to the next person willing to accept you for you.
I hope my input here helps you cope with this easier. ;-))

take care of your journey and would hope that you can achieve everything the way you wanted being a blessing to everyone is bring greatness to show that Each act of kindness, no matter how small, ripples outward and has the power to uplift and inspire. When we choose to be a source of positivity, understanding, and support, we create an environment where others feel valued and encouraged. It's about the everyday moments where we choose to connect with others with empathy and grace. By doing so, we enrich our own lives while making the world a brighter, more harmonious place for everyone.

06/08/2024 17:08I guess everyone has their preferences. Your ad states that chemistry and attraction is a must and I'm guessing there are others who feel the same. There are alot of people who won't find you attractive in the same way that you won't find a lot of people on here meet your requirements. It works both ways.
I guess if you're here just for some wrestling then people will have more success as it's not always about the looks. If people are looking more at the person/looks etc as if it were a hook up then people are entitled to be more fussy.
Personally I'm not in it for the hookups so looks aren't a priority, just clicking with a personality. I tend to find people who expect a certain look have a overly high opinion of themselves and aren't as attractive as they think they are. But that's their perogative to go for what they like.
I'm guessing you may gave turned people down just as people will turn you down if they don't find you attractive in their eyes. That said, a polite reply and refusal is common courtesy.
I think those that are here for the wrestling will have a better success rate than those using it as a replacement for grindr

NYC Wrestling (65)
07/08/2024 23:23Jordy, I hear you, every word. I’m in the same boat…I even shy away from too many shirtless pics on my profile! But I try to get past that and wrestle as often as I can, and more often than not it’s been rewarding. Maybe we can meet up for a roll when you’re in NYC in September? (English accents make me melt! 😁)

12/08/2024 13:45Hi
Your post fully makes sense.
I even have the impression this phenomenon has worsened with the new messenger system. I don't know, maybe people read more from the first words and decide whether they open it or not... because since it was implied, only one message out of four are read here for me. Being ignored or ghosted is ok, as you say, but at a point... well... it's a social media and a place where people registered themselves to socialize with other persons. If I have a profile, am serious and motivated, but just get ignored... well... I just don't stay.
So ignoring an upcoming message or giving no answer are quite odd and unlogical. Very best would be a simple "Thanks but I'm not interested" or something like that. Nonetheless, I read an amount of articles on that issue, and they all conclude the same: less respect, frustration, through these kinds of sites.
I find the creators made a truly huge work... but I wonder whether promoting the quality of answering may be a solution. On some sites, you have informations like "This person has answered 88% of times, average answering time 2 hours" for instance. This could valorise people who just play the game and answer to others, and show which ones are just ignoring everyone and generating time loss. Like a recommandation generated by the way one just cares about the others.
Anyway, your issue is interesting. Big hug from here, one may always be too big/too small, too old/too young and so on...

16/08/2024 21:42We all go through this. It is not just you. Ex. Too skinny, too fat, too gay, too straight. Not enough muscles. I have heard everything in the book. Hang in there and you will find someone to wrestle. It takes time. If you lived closer I would wrestle you all the time.

07/09/2024 14:35Thanks for sharing. We all have these issues at times. I’m very active on the site but only get responses about half of the time. 🤔 I always respond, common courtesy in my book, but that’s not everyone. Hope you have some time for matches on your US trip. Lots of guys like to roll with visitors when they are here. 👍🏻

11/09/2024 3:01Hey there, Wrestler. I've read your message and just wanted to chime in with my two cents. First off, let me tell you, brother, that the wrestling world is a tough place, both in and out of the squared circle. It's full of pretenders and posers, guys who think that just because they look good in a pair of trunks, they can talk the talk without walking the walk. But you know what? That's their problem, not yours.
Your heart and your passion for the sport is what truly counts, and if you're putting in the work, then you're already ahead of the game. You don't need to have the body of a Greek god to be a great wrestler, you just need the heart of one.
Oh, I get it, buddy. The camera can be a cruel master, no doubt about it. But let me tell you a little secret: the camera doesn't capture the grind, the sweat, the tears you put into your training. It doesn't see the heart of a man who steps into the ring, regardless of how he looks. The important thing is that you're out there, giving it your all, and that's what makes you a true wrestler. As for the travel, I feel ya. I've got my shop to run, so I can't be jet-setting across the country every weekend either. But you know what? That's what makes our local scenes so special.
Find your niche, your home, where the guys respect you for who you are and what you bring to the table. And if someone's not willing to give you a chance, screw 'em. There are plenty of other fish in the sea, so to speak. Keep your chin up, keep training hard, and never let anyone tell you that you're not good enough. Because, in the grand scheme of things, the only opinion that truly matters is the one you have of yourself. Keep pushing, keep striving, and don't let the haters get you down.
Well spoken. It's a lesson that often takes a few bruises and a taste of the canvas to truly appreciate. But once it sinks in, it's like finding the sweet spot in a perfectly tuned engine - you just keep on roaring. In the ring, fear and doubt are just illusions wearing flashy spandex. It's all about who's got the guts to stand tall. And let me tell you, I've seen a spark in you that suggests you're more than just a pretty face.
You're absolutely right, my friend. In this world of spandex and steel chairs, it's easy to get caught up in the glamour and the glory. But at the end of the day, it's the heart and the soul that count. Keep honing your skills, both in and out of the ring, and you'll find that the naysayers are just white noise in the symphony of your success.
