Do Disparities Make a Match Hotter?
Younger vs. Older. Heavy vs. Light.. Taller vs Shorter.. Lean vs Rotund Jobber vs. Heel
Does the physical difference between two opponents make match more interesting.?
We know trash talk does.
We know battling for the Alpha title: no doubt
Definitely, earning bragging rights.
In my opinion, it does. How is disparity ignited?
Something that has existed for the beginning of the human race: the male ego.
We as men, are creature of sight. If we want something, desperately, we pursue it. In wrestling, we see an opponent who we think that we can dominate (or become dominated), we pursue.
What are your thoughts??

20/10/2023 0:29Yes definitely 😎
From memory I’m yet to match with anyone the same stats as me (5’ 9”/69kg) and I tend to have a preference anyway for guys bigger than me.
I’m typically sub but in recent years really started to enjoy dominating guys that are bigger than me.
This of course takes cooperation on their part/a want to be dominated, but it adds something special to the meet when there’s that physical disparity.

I agree, it does.

20/10/2023 4:28I agree, I think disparities make a hotter match. Nothing better than watching a bigger wrestler dominate a smaller one in a squash match. Even matches are good too, but I always enjoyed watching squash matches more. Especially when both wrestlers sell it well. It's great when you get to the point in the match where you know the heel can end it at any time, but he wants to punish his lesser opponent a bit longer, just because he can. And the disparity doesn't have to be a size difference, but a notable experience and aggressive punishment difference with one wrestler over the other.

20/10/2023 22:39It is difficult to NOT have disparities in a match. Matching height, weight, and skill level is extremely hard to do. I rented a ring with four other wrestlers, and every one of them was at least 30 pounds heavier than me. Were my matches with them hot? Yes. Not sure if disparities make it hotter, but definitely make it hot. There are of course weight-height differences, skill differences, but also age differences. As I am just a few weeks away from reaching another age "plateau", I do have concerns that when my profile age changes to the next age level, I may begin to become not as desirable as an opponent to some. Although I am only on here two and a half years, starting to wrestle later in life, I have enjoyed the disparities of my opponents.....some a lot bigger, a few smaller, some a lot younger, some even older, some a lot more skilled, and some just with few skills and just beginning....but it didn't seem to be an issue for myself or my opponents. I enjoy this site and most of the guys here. I do not care what weight, height, skill level, race, religion, or age you are. I just want to have a fun, sweaty match and I want my opponent to have a good time too. So, is disparity hotter? It definitely can be hot!

I like that saying. Maybe you should pen it: " So , is disparity hotter ? It definitely can be hot!"

21/10/2023 15:52I think disparities helps us challenge our skill and promotes a diverse set of muscle use and strategies.
Slim 66 (32)
21/10/2023 15:55Point well taken. If you wrestle the same match, your muscles will not be challenged and will become soft.

22/10/2023 6:23You are spot on. I've never thought of it in those terms. I am a lightweight jobber and I like to wrestle heavier heels.

22/10/2023 7:21Great blog topic. In the fantasy realm, to me, nothing is hotter than an obvious size mismatch and the larger wrestler easily having his (or her) way over their opponent.
The absolute hopeless that this image evokes is so titillating. Also love it when the dominating heel relishes in the cruel punishment he is handing out, knowing he can stop at anytime but would rather sadistically with a mean smile, play with his toy much to the expense of the hapless, unfortunate Jobber.
It also goes without saying that small, cute, smooth and naive looks so hot when contrasted with big, burly, hairy and experienced.

Contrast makes everything so much better! A jobber/heel matchup where the jobber lets the heel have his way with him is good enough, but when the size and experience disparity is enough for the jobber to not have any way to realistically stop his opponent... that's something else entirely. And it leads to the best trash talk too ^^

22/10/2023 13:05For me disparity makes it interesting, but when mixed with the right attitude towards a wrestle, that formula makes it work best.
Sometimes we look for similar sizes to test ourselves on an equal footing, but I find it more interesting to take on smaller men or bigger men or someone with far more experience.
Once you respect your opponents differences, it is a great experience. I learned that when I wrestled a guy who had a huge my number of past opponents and he was almost half my weight.... I lost but I had a great experience

Yes, I learned a lot in those 3 hours that I have used since, with great effect. For example, how to make sure my weight is not used against me.

27/10/2023 12:25My thoughts are the people spend way too much time trying to reinvent the wheel. The fact is, interesting is a matter of perspective, but mixing generally does not make for a very competitive match. One needs to keep in mind that there is a difference between a strict competition and a fantasy – which we've seen come and go.
Meaning, people have already been down this path before many times, and this question has been asked and answered. Exhibitions aside, it is unlike you would fill a stadium or arena with a competition between a man and a women. Its also why contact sports such as boxing and wrestling have weight divisions in place.

Ummm.. good point. Weight classes and other restrictions do leverage the playing field.
